HOLMES MILL WEDDING

A RELAXED HOLMES MILL WEDDING FILLED WITH FUN AND LAUGHTER ALL DAY LONG

Lucy and Matt got married in Autumn at the spectacular Holmes Mill, which is a quirky old renovated mill in Clitheroe. It was such a fun wedding and even the weather played ball!

The excitement before the wedding

Lucy got ready in the Spinning Block Hotel with Rachel her bridesmaid and her Mum, and the atmosphere was so relaxed, the music was on and the Prosecco was in hand! The girls then only had to walk the short distance to get to the ceremony. Matt got ready a floor above Lucy in the same hotel with his Best Man. We had a laugh struggling with folding the pocket squares until Gavin, who was second shooting that day, came to the rescue with a youtube video!! Matt was warmly welcomed into the ceremony room by all the guests, who were in awe at how bloody amazing the room looked. Lucy & Rachel own Sweet Pea Floristry and had gone to town making their stamp on the room!!

The wedding

The ceremony was an intimate service in the main hall. Lucy & Matt opted for clear chairs and masses of greenery and geometric tea light holders which created a lovely light, and an intimate ambience. During the ceremony there was lots of laughter between the couple, albeit a bit of nerves!

Lucy admits the favourite part of the day was walking down the aisle with her Dad, she absolutely loved seeing everyones faces. Now I know a lot of brides get really nervous about that bit, but lap it up, its the best walk you’re ever going to take !!!

After the ceremony

The reception was held in the Engine Room within the renovated Mill. They chose this venue because it has so many options and they could totally personalise it “we loved the peaky blinders feel to it”!

It was an Autumn wedding, and I bloody love because Autumn, it’s my favourite time of the year. The light you get throughout the day is just perfect. I love shooting Holmes Mill weddings because the surroundings are endless. There are so many opportunities for photographs. I can’t get enough of shooting indoors at this venue, think rustic walls, natural light, and vibrant wallpaper. The Engine Room has to be one of my favourite indoor shots of all time!!

They had a fantastic magician – Darren Robinson,  in the afternoon, and live music in the evening. They decorated the venue with gorgeous flowers and tea-lights, because it’s Lucy’s biggest obsession. The colours they used and the detail they went to was amazing. Handmade name places and tables named after world renowned bands like Nirvana, they took the room decoration to the next level!!

The funniest part of the day was the speeches, because it made everyone laugh. Lucy’s Dad even sang part of his speech whilst playing a very tiny guitar!! They also made sure that the speeches were relaxed so that everyone just sat back and listened, it wasn’t a traditional set of speeches as Matt had already said a few words before dinner in the engine room– it was the first time I’ve seen that at a wedding! and I thought it was a lovely touch.

The couple

Lucy & Matt said they wanted a photographer who would be like a guest, and I loved that they just wanted to party. I first met Lucy through working in the wedding industry, she is a florist and so we work together throughout the year. I was so over the moon when she asked me to take her wedding photos, there’s so many photographers to choose from, I felt so honoured to have been asked.

The biggest piece of advice they could give you is “take time to sit down and be with your partner, whilst watching everyone enjoy themselves” and  “don’t sweat the small stuff, if it hasn’t already been done, it doesn’t matter, n one knew it was supposed to happen anyway.”

Lucy and Matt’s wedding was everything I love about weddings we had an amazing day as you can see here ….
